Dead City
03:57
|
|||
Woke up early to the sound
Of thunder clapping
Hard rain coming down
And if this city drowns in a flood
Who will remember us
Save us?
Woke up early in a flood
Wiped my brow
Mouth was tasting blood
And if this city sinks in the waves
Who will remember us
Mark our graves?
On the nights
When our babies are born
On the nights
When we roll under covers
On the nights
When we shiver through the cold
On the nights
Pick our way through the rubble
Woke up early in a grave
Cut my hair
Change my name
And if this city crumbles and breaks
Who will remember us
Take our place?

Ottawa Winter
04:00
|
|||
The sky is spitting snow
And the cold hits like a bag of bones
November shivers down the hallway
The pipes are almost froze
Hoarfrost painted on the windows
There's something eerie about these streets when all the shops close
The sky is spitting snow
And the cold hits like a bag of bones
December shivers down the hallway
And the streets have their ghosts too
Every door and every roof
They shuffle down the sidewalks singing sad songs in the gloom
And this Ottawa winter is colder than ever
Buries itself now in the skin
And this Ottawa winter is colder than I remember
But maybe my memory's gone dim
The boards of your apartment creak and sway
We just shut our mouths and watch the years just slip away
The sky is spitting snow
And the cold hits like a bag of bones
January shivers down the hall
And the year is measured through
The span of sheets and lines and glue
I never spent a better winter than the one I spent with you

Like A Ghost
01:57
|
|||
She treads so softly now
Gossamer footsteps
And she's walking through me
Just like a ghost
Buried with twopence as passage paid
Where were you when shadows and ghosts were left?
Your eyes were like daggers
And your smile was a knife in the back
We're staring down alleys of gasoline hearts
Covered with intangible, untouchable skylines of you and I
There's a faint whispering
A scent on the breeze
Telling me that you've rotted away.
She treads so softly now
Gossamer footsteps
And she's walking through me
Just like a ghost

Ode To A Bicycle
00:46
|
|||
Two wheels
Two tires
You're all I require
To get me from point A to point B
And when the wind's good
I'm quickly at home
And I don't shift my gears anymore

Zorro
01:53
|
|||
You were my best friend that summer
Always so close when I called
And though I'm not sure you'd remember me now
I like to imagine you did
I'd take you out swimming with Tarzan
And D'Artagnan brought up the rear
I dreamed that we'd sail down some river in France
But like most things I dream few get did
You were such a good boy, such a sweet boy
We kept all your pictures and things
And I know that I'll never see you again
I hope that they buried you well

Speechless (For Once)
03:03
|
|||
And in a daze we stumbled home at the end of the day
With holes in our hearts
The faces were grey
Speechless for once
And I can't stay another year in ghost town
And I can't sleep when the wind keeps pushing its way through the trees
And I can't breathe when everyone is looking like
They're dead and gone.
Dead on the branch and rotted away
With screams sewn shut
We have tried to keep this tempo...
So we burn the light out

In Love With A Wolf
02:48
|
|||
You were in love with a wolf
And he kept you out almost every night
'Till the morning come
And the howling done
And you'd sleep so light
And I was loved by a ghost
But it kept me quiet so I couldn't speak
And the time went thin
And the lights grew dim
'Til I couldn't see
You were in love with a wolf
But he couldn't rise to meet your lover's stare
And it twitched and it burned
And it cried and it choked
Until you let it go
And I was loved by a ghost
But it wasn't right and it made me sleep
And my heart went cold
And my body burned my dreams
In effigy
You were in love with a wolf
And I loved a ghost
And we never knew
That you were out there looking for me
And I was waiting for you
That you were out there waiting for me
And I was waiting for you
